Many Many Milestones!

Landry has hit many milestones since our last update. Just for starters he is now sitting up all by himself like a big boy! It seems like all of a sudden he started doing this. We had been practicing for weeks and I had an appointment for his 6 month pictures. I really wanted one with his sitting up unsupported by himself and it just clicked one day and he learned how to do it. So I was one happy mother watching him sit up like a big boy for his 6 month pictures.
He also had gotten better at taking naps in his crib. We had been working on this for some time now and every time I would lay him down as soon as his head hit the crib his eyes would pop open. Whew! I have to say it's really nice to have a little quite and 'me' time in the afternoons. I didn't realize how much I can get done in 30 minutes time with him asleep! I had to take this picture b/c Landry was 3 for 3 naps in his crib this day. I know I am a brave soul for taking a picture and taking a chance of waking a sleeping baby but I had to document this milestone b/c it took us a while to get there. Unfortunately, we aren't sleeping very good at night. I thought a month and a half ago that he was just teething-but if that's the case it has taken this tooth FOREVER to come in and is completely wearing me out!
It seems like we are trading one good thing for another b/c now that he is actually taking decent naps(by no means ideal) and he decided that he and his carseat can actually get along and not fight with every car ride we take- we now are not sleeping like we were 2 months ago. So who know what the deal is but I hopefully it will get worked out and soon!!
Landry is also now eating baby food!! His first food was carrots. The first bite he took he actually gaged and spit it out. It was so funny and pitiful at the same time. We tried carrots several times the first day and by the end of the day he actully liked them and now eats them pretty good. But I learned that carrots will stain everything they touch along with just about all baby food!! I am planning making his baby food so that i know what is going in his mouth(no pesticides/herbicides/etc). But before I went and spent a lot of money on organic vegetables I wanted to see what foods he would eat first so he is eating the organic gerber food right now and working our way through some baby food that Great aunt Patsy(Austin's aunt) gave us when Landry was born. So thank you aunt Patsy- your gift is coming in very handy!

Another very very sweet milestone Landry is doing is he is now beginning to reach for people when you put your hands out to hold him. I LOVE this and can't get enough of it. He just started doing this about 1 and a half weeks ago and the first night he began this Austin and I made him go back and forth about five times so we could watchi him practice his new trick. Austin finally said "ok Tara that's enough we don't want to wear it out." But I told him I could NEVER get tired of him reaching for me or wanting me to hold him! But he also knows how to work it b/c sometimes he will smile at the person holding their hands out and turn the away from them and act shy. He has also just started to cry or should I say scream out when I leave the room sometimes. While this makes it very hard to get anything done during the day it is also very sweet that he wants me to be in the same room with him b/c I know one day he will be telling me to leave his room! Another fun fact I wanted to share is how he loves to talk now. Austin and I have no clue what he's trying to say but love listening to him constantly coo and bable. We wish there was a way to translate the baby bable somehow, but before we blink he will be talking.:(

So I said I had a really good reason as to why I haven't blogged lately and the reason is we now have possession and own 2 houses. We've working on our house every opportunity we have gotten lately. We plan on staying in our current house until it sells hopefully. It will just sell better with furniture in it. But the worse case senario is if we still haven't sold it by the holidays we are going to go ahead and move into our new home so that we can spend Landry;s first Christmas in our new house. But we are going to be optomistic and say our house will be sold by then and it won't even be an issue!

Here are just a few sweet pictures of our precious baby boy in the last 3 weeks that I wanted to share!

Blessed!

I thought I would put some pictures up of Landry and his 24th week birthday. He loves to roll and I have have a feeling it's just a matter of time before he starts crawling b/c he is doing the right motion he just hasn't learned to push on the floor with his feet-he just kicks in the air. I better get ready to put my running shoes on when he begins crawling- I have a feeling he is going to keep me on my toes.

I have mentioned several time how Landry really doesn't like to go in his crib for naps so we made a compromise. He sleeps in the floor of our living room most of the time and every now and then i can get him to sleep in his crib. There is nothing more peaceful than watching a baby sleep so I had to capture this sweet moment the other day.

The picture of him in a bouncy seat with his head turned around backwards is his reaction when his daddy comes in for lunch everyday. We are lucky enough that Austin's work is only about 5 minutes away so he comes and spends lunch hour with us every day possible. As soon as he walks in and hears his voice he almost breaks his neck to see his daddy. So I had to capture it the other day- I have to say he truely loves his daddy!
I love that picture I took of him crying. I was actually trying to get a cute picture of him smiling and then all of a sudden he decided he wasn't happy so I got this picture insead. This picture just captures his face when he begins to cry and I thought it was so sweet! You can see all that blonde hair coming in really well in this picture also. It's so funny to look at his newborn pictures at how dark his hair was and just 5 months later it's so blonde you can only see it real good in the light. I CANNOT believe that in 10 days he is going to be 6 months old! That is seriously so hard to believe and really makes me sad. These have been the best 5 1/2 months of my life though and God truely blessed me with a wonderful husband and son!!

Worn Out!

I have a lot to blog about so this post may be a little choppy b/c I have so much to catch up on. I guess I'll start with My paretns were able to go on a 30th anniversary trip of a lifetime! They went on a 13 day cruise tour of Alaska. They cruised for 7 days to different parts of Alaska and then tour land for 6 days. They said it was absolutley amazing and told me to start saving my money to go one day. After seeing their pictures this place is definitely on my wish list of places to go eventually. They took several BIG pictures of Landry and put them on their mirror in their room. They really missed Landry and this was the longest they had ever gone without seeing him- and I don't blame them I would miss him to if I were gone for 13 days. We picked them up from the airport when they got back in town and my dad had gotten him a nice hat with hair and Landry had a sign for them so we took a picture of them.

Ok so we went of our first family vacation this past week to Gulf Shores Alabama and while it was a lot of fun it was also very different and now I know why the doctor told me at Landry's last appointment that our beach vacations would never be the same. We had a ton of fun but I feel like I worked more on this vacation than I do when I stay at home. It's a lot of work to get me ready, landry ready, sunscreen put on both of us, the float blowed up, tent put up on the beach for Landry to sleep in(yeah right what was I thinking??), sunglasses on, hat on his head, umbrella covering us from the sun and I would do all of this for us to stay on the beach for maybe an hour- two at most. So needless to say me, Landry and Austin are more worn out after our vacation than before we left. haha! It has taken Landry a good 2 days to recover from the late nights and nonstop fun though! Thankfully he is in a much better mood today! Since Landry isn't a fan of his carseat we decided to leave at night so he would sleep through most of the ride. So we left at 6:00 after Austin got off work last Monday. This couldn't have worked out better on our way down there. He pretty much slept the whole ride except for the last 30 minutes. Whew! That was a relief. However on the way back he decided he was going to scream the first 2 hours and then sleep the rest of the way. Overall I have to say he did great and it could have been a lot worse! We were there the first 3 days by ourselves and then reinforcements- the rest of my family-came in on late wednesday- so it was nice to have some extra hands and help the rest of the week. Landry loved the beach! He was very facinated by the texture and the sound of the waves but just didn't want that water touching him-which I am very suprised of b/c he loves bath time and loves swimming-I think the water was a little too cold for him and scared him. I think it scared him b/c it would come up on him so fast- he would scream the second it would touch him and then stop the minute it would go away. I have to say it was pretty cute!! We took his 23 week old picture the first time his toes have ever hit the sand. I am really looking foward to all our family vacations in the future and know that this was the first of many!

On another note we are still in the process of trying to sell our house! We took Landry's 22 week old picture with him in front of the "for sale sign" in our front yard. Thankfully our house has been shown 4 times in 2 weeks but we are still waiting on someone to bite on it! Please just keep us in your prayers that our house will sell fast!

Milestone: Landry is rolling around everywere! About 10 days after he rolled from his stomach to his back he began rolling from his back to his stomach. I was really suprised at how fast he began doing this. But once he figured out he could roll from his stomach to his back it was like he had the mentality that nothing was going to stop him now and he immediately began rolling like crazy. I have to say we have a very strong willed little boy- but as my mother keeps telling me "The apple doesnt fall far from the tree" and in Landry's case he got a double dose I'm afraid of! This could be a very good character trait as long as we contain it though! :) haha!
